tom's folk cafe reviewBy Jessica Santana
Toms Folk Cafe is the perfect hole in the wall that you would expect to stumble across while in Dallas or Austin. The small business stands out when it comes to the ultimate dining experience. Their distinct way of “celebrating” food is like no other when being served Southern cuisine combined with French and Mexican twists. Some might ask, “Who in the world is Tom?” The owner, Ian Atkins had many inspirations when entitling his restaurant—a folk singer named Tom Russell, Ian’s grandfather was named Tom and the restaurants own personalized drink glasses, wide mouth mickeys, were the title of singer Tom Waits’ song. Endless love reviewBy Alison Livermore
The blossoming flowers of puppy love settles in the veins of high school graduates Jade Butterfield and David Elliot as they fight for their love. The disapproval of their relationship only ignites the flame that dwells within the two. Besides coming from different backgrounds, many obstacles stand to testify their love as each day passes. Starring Gabriella Wilde as Jade and Alex Pettyfer as David, the movie begins with their high school graduation ceremony. Jade, a beautiful but painfully shy girl, spikes the interest of David, a charismatically handsome young man with a troubled past. After a coincidental meeting, they both form a strong bond during Jade’s graduation party. As days go by, their love grows after spending the night with each other. However as David and Jade get closer, her father’s disapproval thrives even deeper. (To continue reading, click here) |
Letter to the EditorAnonymous
Respect between the faculty and students is dwindling, and the list of rules is getting longer every year. Punishments are not being fit to the crimes and it is simply not fair at all. No student at this school is perfect, and there a lot of students who commit the same “bad” deed, yet are not being punished. I don't think what we attend to outside of school should reflect what we do at school. Now I am not saying students should be able to be criminals outside of school and leaders inside. But a little high school fun wasn’t a big deal when our parents went to school and shouldn't be now. I would argue to say that at least 75% of our school’s population has been to a party before, which is a rather large percentage. However, some students have gotten in trouble for a simple for a simple photograph taken at a party and others by word of mouth of their actions at a party. (To continue reading, click here) |

By Adrian Broaddus
Starting the season undefeated, the varsity softball team continues to work hard to return to the playoffs. After being ranked first place in the city, their chances look promising to advance further in the playoffs.
The girls’ first tournament was a success, winning 7 of 8 games.
“Our goal is to win every game,” head coach Rick Perez said. “We shall see what happens at the end of our season. We have a lot of really good players coming up next year. If they work hard and do the necessary work outs required, they will be able to replace the graduating seniors next year.’’
One developing player, starting off this year as a freshman on varsity, Kaela Steuart describes her journey.“Since I began playing softball, i've always played with and against older girls. This has helped me adjust to each level as I moved up,” Stuart said, “As a freshman, I sometimes feel pressured and nervous starting for varsity. I need to work on staying calm and just letting the game flow.” (To continue reading, click here)
